The Marble Head | Ava

A delicately layered, blended and glazed rendition of a beautiful marble sculpture which I fell in love with in an art museum in Brussels on a flight stopover on afternoon. It was an exercise also in seeing all of the colours and tones in white. There is no pure white point in the painting, but gradients of subtle blues, warmer areas, golds, optical greys.

She lives now with a collector in London who, like me, fell in love with her at first sight.
